RV Satellite Internet – Stay Connected While You Travel
Who wouldn’t enjoy traveling without leaving the comforts of home behind? That’s all possible when you see the sights from behind the wheel of an RV. Unfortunately it wasn’t always possible to stay connected. But now traveling has gotten even better because of the arrival of RV satellite internet.
Let’s face it. For many of us, using the internet has become an integral part of our lives. We use it for everything from emailing, to searching for information, to paying bills and so much more.
In the past when traveling in our motorhomes, we had to stop at WiFi hotspots or stay at campgrounds that provided internet access. Fortunately RV satellite internet service has changed all that.
When you get a satellite internet system, you will be able to access the internet almost anywhere in your travels. These systems operate with a small dish antenna. The dish can be mounted on the roof of your motorhome or other recreational vehicle. Or, depending on the model you choose, it may be a separate unit. In both cases, you can have access to high speed internet except when you are driving.
The satellite unit uses GPS technology to find and lock onto the signal from the satellite. By doing this, you then get your high speed internet connection.
You have a choice of two types of satellite units. These are the automatic roof-mounted units or units that are manually mounted on tripods.
The automatic roof mounted unit is designed to automatically retract into its traveling position whenever you are on the move. This is to prevent wind damage to the unit. You also have the option to retract the unit yourself by engaging the stow button. You may want to do this if you are parked during poor weather conditions.
If you check into these units you will find that manual tripod mounted units are much more inexpensive than the automatic units. The cost of the roof mounted automatic system is more because of the technology needed for deploying the system.
If you are considering a tripod unit, you will have to allow a fair amount of space that is easily accessible in order to stow the parts of the unit. Of course, you will need to assemble and disassemble the unit each time you move which does take some time.
Tripods units are better suited for use after a day of traveling. You’ll find it’s probably not worth the effort to set up a tripod mounted unit if you are just making a short stop.
A manually mounted tripod unit is more flexible than an automatic unit. That’s because you can move it a lot easier than moving your whole RV, if necessary. For an RV satellite internet system to work, the southern sky needs to be visible without any obstructions.
Stay connected with an RV satellite internet service while you travel. Why not enjoy all the conveniences of home, even a fast internet service.
